2009 Boost as £30M Copenhagen Building Tops Out
The IFSD has received a major boost with the topping out of the £30m Copenhagen building on Hope Street.

As part of the pipeline of 800,000 sq ft of Grade A office buildings currently on site in the IFSD, the Copenhagen development will open for business in June next year, bringing 65,000 sq ft of high quality office space to the District.

Located opposite Central Station and at the junction of major public transport networks, the Copenhagen Building adds to the on-going regeneration of the district.

Fusing together two buildings built originally in 1899, the completed building will extend to ten floors, with circa 6500 sq ft floor plates, a modern glass curtain wall and two-storey atrium.

The developers expect to achieve a high BREAM rating, to appeal to the growing number of occupiers specifying sustainable, highly energy-efficient buildings.

Developer, Rob Hill of the Hugh Mackay Retirement Benefit Scheme, said: “This is our first investment in Glasgow, one of the most exciting business centres in the UK, with a growing international profile. The Copenhagen Building offers an excellent location adjacent to Central Station, appeal to companies wanting to reduce their carbon footprint by replacing car travel with rail travel”
