Internet activity suggests more interest in Glasgow than pundits predict
Research by The Copenhagen Building in Glasgow into the level of internet traffic on the development suggests that the commercial property market is more active – albeit not reflectED in deals yet - than is being mooted by analysts and popular commentators.
 
An audit of www.thecopenhagenbuilding.co.uk reveals a 400% increase in visits during the first quarter of 2009 compared to the same period last year.  
 
Perhaps more importantly, hits on Google (for The Copenhagen Building) have now exceeded 110,000 – of which 45,000 or 40% were registered since December 2008. This is significant because the period in question broadly coincides with the tightening of the economy and the beginning of the recession, when a downturn in enquiries would normally be expected.
 
Since the development was unveiled, 1000 copies of the brochure have also been downloaded. Matthew McIntosh, Marketing Project Manager for The Copenhagen Building, believes the research augurs well for Glasgow’s office sector: “The development was launched a year ago and is relatively high profile, so it is probably fair to say that findings are a good barometer of market interest in Glasgow, as well as clearly The Copenhagen Building in particular.  A cloud has been hanging over commercial property for a while, and whilst transactions are still at a low ebb, the fact that there is so much interest in our development is good news for the business and property communities.”
 
Launched in Spring of 2008, The Copenhagen Building is a 65,000 sq ft Grade A office development located on Hope Street in Glasgow, directly opposite Central Station.   Extending to 10 floors, the £30m development will bring much needed high quality office space to the city and to the International Financial Services District, in which it is located, when the building opens for business in late autumn.
